RootLGR integration algorithm was agreed in CJK Coordination Committee held in June 2015
16 July, 2015
Chinese Generation Panel (CGP), Japanese Generation Panel (JGP), and Korean Generation Panel (KGP) held the second series of their Coordination Committee meetings together with Integration Panel (IP) and ICANN staffs during ICANN Buenos Aires meeting from Sunday 21 to Thursday 25 June, 2015.
Each GP had intensively elaborated and evaluated its own draft RootLGR definition based on the algorithm proposed by JGP in the first Coordination Committee held in May 2015. In addition, revision of the algorithm had been led by JGP to have more precise definition. Such investigation and revision along with the assessment by IP proved the algorithm to be reasonable and effective for CJK (Chinese-Japanese-Korean) RootLGR integration. The remaining issue will be the tuning of the algorithm aiming the reduction of variant labels that are to be delegated in the root zone.
From now on, more detailed and precise language RootLGR definition will be elaborated and finalized by each GP by along with evaluation of integrated RootLGR and sophisticated coordination among all GPs if needed.
Additionally, it was agreed by CJK GPs that it was necessary for ICANN to consider the well-collaborating combination of 'RootLGR' and 'TLD application process' to decide TLD variant labels that will be delegated to the root zone. To notify this to ICANN, CJK GPs will collectively issue a formal statement on this to ICANN.
